WWII in Dresden: Memory, Destruction, and Reckoning

At the centre of this experience is the 3 hour Dresden Memory Walk through the historic heart of Dresden’s Old Town, where the legacy of World War II is etched into the cobbled streets, skyline, the stones of its buildings and even its cultural heritage.

This walk focuses on the Allied bombing of February 1945, its devastating impact, the immediate aftermath and the city’s long, complex process of rebuilding and remembrance. Led by only a few of our team, the Dresden Memory Walk is not just about dates and facts. It is an intensive, well-researched thoughtful perspective on the subject.
Language: English
Duration:
3+ hours
Price:
160€ for the core 3 hours tour.
Price for extensions on request.
The optional extensions for this Tour:
  • The Military History Museum, one of Europe’s most innovative museums confronting militarism and memory (add 1 hour to the core walk)
  • The Münchner Platz Memorial, a former Nazi execution site where political prisoners were guillotined (add 1.5 hours to the core walk)
  • Pirna Sonnenstein, a deeply moving site once used in the Nazi euthanasia program under Aktion T4 (add 3 hours to the core walk)
This experience is ideal for visitors seeking a deeper understanding of WWII’s impact on Germany with Dresden and Saxony as the main focus and the ethical questions that still resonate today.
All travel within Dresden and to Pirna, if chosen, will be with public transportation. It is best if you write to us and we can work out an itinerary that suits you best.
Participation in the tour is only possible with prior registration or ticket
